The Dirty Hat Classic
Mike's legacy continues to shape Northern Kentucky baseball. In honor of his passion for the game, twelve local high school teams will compete in the 5th Dirty Hat Classic. This annual tournament celebrates Mike’s love for baseball while supporting a great cause.

Fans can enjoy exciting matchups, delicious concessions, and a variety of raffle items, with all proceeds benefiting the Mike Epplen Philanthropic Fund.

2025 Participating Teams:
Covington Catholic, St. Henry, Holy Cross High School, Beechwood High School, Conner High School, Campbell County High School, Highlands, Ryle, Williamstown, Dixie Heights, Bishop Brossart, and Simon Kenton.

Join us for two days of great baseball on April 11th & 12th at Thomas More Stadium. A special thank you to Don Tragessar for generously providing the field for this event!

Wild Boar Wiffle Ball

The Epplen Pig Roast began as a family gathering during the summer of 1999. Over time, it evolved into an annual event supporting many charities throughout the years.
The Wild Boar Wiffle Ball Tournament is being established to continue the legacy of The Epplen Pig Roast and will embody the spirit of the original event with all proceeds benefiting the Mike Epplen Philanthropic Fund.
This tournament will be an annual event taking place over Labor Day weekend at the DCCH (Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home) fields in Fort Mitchell, KY.
Wild Boar Wiffle Ball will occur on August 31, 2024… Rain or Shine! There will be a Wiffle Ball Tournament, Beer Sales, Water/Pop Sales, Bounce Houses, Kona Ice, and food throughout the day.
